This is a new course for 2019 to celebrate
Wales’ ‘Year of Discovery’.
We take a look plants that enjoy living near the sea and those growing in the salty environment just above the high tide on the beach. Then we look at seaweeds below the high tide mark and find out how to identify the seaweeds that we find and taste them straight from the rocks. What could be nicer than getting out in the fresh air, exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline, whilst gathering wild ingredients to pep up your menu?
Learn what nature can provide us with for use the kitchen and be inspired to take home with you a new enthusiasm on how to make the most of wild ingredients in everyday life.
On your walk you will learn about the strict laws on taking plants from the wild, and some folk-lore, medicinal and craft uses. Discover other strange uses for seaweeds and coastal plants!
You will notice that there are no venues given. We like to ring the changes sometimes and there are reasons for occasionally choosing different beaches. We shall let you know all details approximately one week before the course date. All are in Pembrokeshire, most very close to St Davids.
